The centre back displayed his regular high level performance going as far as scoring a goal against the home team on the 23rd minute, but this one was canceled by the English referee Clattenburg who had observed the Swede in an offside position.

As a result, our fellow countrymen achieved a 1:0 win thanks to a precise shot by Artyom Dzyuba in the end of the first half. The three black-green players, Fyodor Smolov, Pavel Mamayev and Yury Gazinskiy, spent this game on a bench of the Russian team. Artur Jędrzejczyk of FC Krasnodar also stayed in reserve of the Poland national team. The Polish team lost 1:3 to Germany in a Group D away game in Frankfurt am Main. The new FC Krasnodar player Charles Kaboré made no appearance on the pitch for his Burkina Faso national team either. His team lost 0:1 to Botswana in an away game of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
