FC Krasnodar and Atlético Mineiro Have Agreed on the Transfer of Júnior Alonso

Football clubs Krasnodar and Atlético Mineiro have agreed on the transfer of Júnior Alonso. The defender will sign a contract with the Bulls that will be valid until the end of June 2025.

Júnior Osmar Ignacio Alonso Mujica was born on 9 February 1993 in the capital of Paraguay, Asunción. He is a cadet of the local club Cerro Porteño where he made his debut in the Paraguayan Primera División in a game vs. Club Deportivo Capiatá on 10 March 2013. On 5 August the same year, he scored his first goal in professional football (against Cerro Porteño PF) helping his team win the top-flight league in Paraguay.

In early 2017 he moved to the French LOSC Lille where he was noticed by the scouts of RC Celta de Vigo, so he began the season 2018/19 with the Spanish club. On 1 September 2018 he took part in a 2-0 win over Atlético Madrid on MD 3 of the Spanish Primera División.

In 2019 Alonso successfully continued his career overseas. At first he moved to the famous Argentinian club Boca Juniors on a loan contract and won the 2019-20 Superliga Argentina. Then he signed a contract with Atlético Mineiro and won the 2021 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, while also winning a prestigious personal trophy Bola de Prata in the process as one of the league’s best defenders.

On 7 January 2022 FC Krasnodar and Clube Atlético Mineiro reached an agreement on the transfer of the 29-year-old defender. In the next few days Júnior Alonso is to undertake a medical exam and sign a contract with the Bulls that will be valid until 30 June 2025.
