In the first round of the Tinkoff Russian Premier League 2021/22 FC Krasnodar smashed Sochi 3-0 at home. Their second clash of the season also began with the scoring chances on behalf of the Bulls. By the 9th minute Vladimir Ilyin could have scored an opener three times, but on two occasions he missed the target from perfect positions, and on the 5th minute he shook the goalpost. As for the home team, they did not miss their chance. Cassierra received a long pass from Prokhin and threw the ball over Safonov.

One way or another, the black-greens scored a quick equalizer. Spertsyan earned a penalty kick and Claesson was the one to execute it in cold blood as he tricked Adamov the keeper into diving the wrong way. In the end of the first half Safonov had to save his team a couple of times, but after the interval the Krasnodar side seized the initiative again. On the 52nd minute Krychowiak and Ionov launched an ideally quick attack that was finished by that same Claesson and his accurate shot that went next to the goalpost. The Swede thus recorded his first brace of the season. Interestingly enough, the goals scored against PFC Sochi moved the Krasnodar winger to the fourth position in the Club all-time ranking according to the “goal+pass” system with 69 points on his piggy bank.

The black-greens were forced to finish the game with a man down, the way it had happened in the first round. Grzegorz Krychowiak received a direct red card at the death. FC Krasnodar managed to survive though as they achieved a comeback win and effectively returned to the League’s top three.
