FC Krasnodar Players Have Capped Again

Safonov and Claesson helped their national teams to become the group leaders

Three FC Krasnodar players have taken part in the second slot of the October matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification. Teams Russia, Sweden, and Serbia are currently leading in their groups. 

The Russia national team achieved a super important win over Slovenia in Maribor and effectively overtook Croatia in the standings. While there are two more games to play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification, Team Russia is ranking first in their group with 19 points on their piggybank and a two-point gap from Croatia in the second position. The national team of our country has already secured at least the status of runners-up that will qualify them for the play-off stage. FC Krasnodar goalkeeper Matvei Safonov displayed a convincing performance in a game with Slovenia and helped his team to keep the winning score alive.

Viktor Claesson contributed to a home 2-0 win of his Sweden national team over Greece. The Krasnodar midfielder made an early appearance and spent 82 minutes on a field of play. The Blågult are the leaders of Group B with 15 points accumulated.

Team Serbia beat Azerbaijan 3-1 at home, and they are still leading in Group A with 17 points after 7 games. Uroš Spajić stayed in reserve.

The Armenia national team lost 1-0 to Romania in Bucharest and dropped to the fourth position in Group J. Eduard Spertsyan was substituted on the 77th minute.

The Russia national under-21 football team smashed Lithuania 3-0 in a game of the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying competition played in Alytus. FC Krasnodar-2 defender Daniil Kornyushin spent the game on the bench.
