The black-greens began the game against a significantly modified Ural team without either of the starting wingers. Rémy Cabella and Wanderson Maciel had not traveled to Yekaterinburg due to their muscle troubles. As for the first five minutes of the match, an ex-Krasnodar player became their principal character. Midfielder Vyacheslav Podberyozkin (he had come back to FC Ural during the summer transfer window) won the rebound and shot the ball under the crossbar.
In the course of the first half the Bulls failed to find any effective methods to enhance their attacking performance. Only a shot and a finishing attempt by Kaio after a serve by Utkin from a corner kick were turned into a real scoring chance on behalf of the visitors. The chance was wasted though, as Pomazun saved his team at first, and then Gerasimov kicked the ball out in a sliding tackle.
On the other hand, immediately after the half-time interval Claesson and Vilhena appeared on a field of play, and the Krasnodar side came very close to scoring an equalizer. Two chances were offered to the Swede within a couple of minutes, but he had a run of bad luck. The first shot was parried by the goalie, and the second one hit the crossbar.
On the 54th minute the Bulls lost an outfield player. An aerial duel occurred, and Turbin the ref inexpertly showed the second yellow card to Kaio. It must be noted that at that time the Krasnodar centre-back was the only player on the pitch who had a booking.
With one man down, the team led by Murad Musayev created a few prospective situations, but they did not manage to score an equalizing goal. Even Safonov the keeper arrived to the opposite penalty area for a free kick at the death, but the win went to the Bumblebees.
