On the final matchday of the Russian Premier League the Bulls were only after one thing, the win against FC Akhmat. The three points would secure bronze medals for FC Krasnodar and admit them to the UEFA Champions League qualifying.
The black-greens scored an opener on the 43rd minute. The team lead by Murad Musayev had been increasing pressure against the opposite goal since the middle of the first half, and it ultimately transformed into the first scored goal. Olsson broke through the first defensive line and passed the ball to Utkin. The latter then flicked the ball to Marcus Berg, and the Swedish striker took a shot before Melikhov the goalie could prevent it.
The upper hand the Bulls enjoyed became overwhelming after the half-time interval. The next three goals scored by FC Krasnodar actually fit in the period from the 54th to the 62nd minute, and that made the score big. It was Rémy Cabella at first who finished a sweeping attack with a delicate parachute shot after receiving the ball from Berg. That same Berg then provided another assist to Wanderson Maciel who fired a biting shot into the near corner. The goal-scoring barrage of the home team ended with a second goal of the Sweden national team striker who recorded a brace for himself tonight. A serve by Gazinsky found a gap in the away team’s defensive ranks, and Marcus Berg shot the ball past the keeper. A 4-0 runaway win!
FC Krasnodar accumulated 52 points on their piggy bank and ranked third in the standings. The Bulls have won the bronze medals of the Russian Football Championship, for the third time in their history.
