On Matchday 5 of the Russian Premier League FC Krasnodar met their neighboring team in the standings, FC Rubin Kazan, at the home venue. The Bulls scored a goal early on the 17th minute. Cabella intercepted the ball after a failed clearance on behalf of the visitors and sent Ivan Ignatyev to the goal with a one-touch pass. The latter then took an accurate shot past Dyupin who had left the goal area in attempt to fix his own mistake. The home team went on attacking and they had quite a few decent chances to improve their lead, but those were never used. What’s worse, a few minutes to the half-time interval the black-greens were left at numerical disadvantage, because Lapochkin the ref sent Namli off pitch for the second yellow card.

In the second half the better ball possession rate switched to FC Rubin, not in an unexpected way since they had more outfield player now. And yet, the Krasnodar team defended in a very organized manner, with no fuss at all, and their occasional counterattacks were very dangerous. One insane shot by freshly-fielded Suleymanov that shook the crossbar was worth looking at!

The minimal score on the scoreboard remained until the very full-time. As a result, the Bulls have accumulated ten points climbing to the second position in the league table, where they remain at least until Sunday when four more games of the same matchday will be played.
