Netherlands national team midfielder has moved to FC Krasnodar from Feyenoord

FC Krasnodar and Feyenoord Rotterdam (Netherlands) have agreed on the details of the transfer that moved Tonny Vilhena, a midfielder of the Netherlands national team, to the Russian club.

Tonny Emilio Trindade de Vilhena was born on 3 January 1995 in Maassluis in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. He began going in for football in his hometown, but when he was eight years old he moved to Feyenoord Rotterdam youth academy.

In January 2012 (Tonny was barely 17) the midfielder made his debut in the Dutch Eredivisie in a game against VVV-Venlo.  On 31 July of the same year he made his first appearance on the international level in a UEFA Champions League qualification match vs. FC Dynamo Kyiv. Tonny Vilhena scored his first goal for the Feyenoord first team in an Eredivisie game against AZ Alkmaar on 25 November 2012.

In his second season Tonny made 27 appearances with the Feyenoord first team in games of the elite Dutch football division. Every year his role in the squad increased, so step by step the central midfielder, able to play in the defensive midfield, box-to-box or as No. 10 if needed, became one of the leaders of the Rotterdam club. De Stadionclub and he won the 2016–17 Eredivisie, 2015–16 and 2017–18 KNVB Cups and Johan Cruyff Shield twice, in 2017 and 2018. Vilhena made 39 official appearances in the last season scoring 7 goals and providing 8 assists.

Since the beginning of 2009, Vilhena has been regularly summoned to the youth squads of the Netherlands national team. He won the UEFA European Under-17 Championship twice in 2011 and 2012 with his U-17 team and became the top scorer of the 2011 tournament with three scored goals in the final stage. In June 2016 he made his debut in the primary Dutch squad and so far he has capped 15 times.

As for now FC Krasnodar and Feyenoord Rotterdam have agreed on the details of Tonny Vilhena’s transfer. The midfielder has signed a long-term personal contract with the black-greens. He will join his new team at the training camp in Austria where he will begin preparing with the Bulls for the new season 2019/20.
