The Krasnodar Players Capped for Their National Teams Again

Viktor Claesson has marked himself with a scored goal against Malta

The UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying tournament goes on. More matches were played on June 7 and 8, and FC Krasnodar players took part is some of them.

Three players of our club took to the field on Friday, 7 June. Midfielders Viktor Claesson and Kristoffer Olsson both played a full 90 in the home game vs. Malta and took an active part in the big win against the visitors. On the 2nd minute Olsson served the ball from the right, while Marcus Berg met it and proceeded with a header. The Malta keeper parried the ball, but it was ultimately finished by Robin Quaison at close range. Early in the second half Claesson was the one to score another goal in cold blood, as he was assisted by that same Berg and his delicate heel pass. Alexander Isak made the score 3-0 on the 81st minute.

Unfortunately for Uroš Spajić and his partners from the Serbia national team, they suffered a smashing away defeat to Ukraine. The match ended with a 5-0 result.  In all fairness, it was the fifth goal where some of the blame lies with our centre-back, who failed to cover the shot by Yevhen Konoplyanka from the 18-yard line. As for the remaining conceded goals, they resulted from the poor defending on behalf of other Serbian players. The Balkan team did not look convincing in attack either, hence the result.

FC Krasnodar centre-back Aleksandr Martynovich captained his Belarus national team in a home game against Germany the following day. Despite the desperate resistance displayed by the White Wings, the visitors achieved a predictable 2-0 win.
