Things went bad for the Krasnodar team in Grozny immediately after the kick-off. The ball was served from a free kick on the 2nd minute, and FC Akhmat defender Andrei Semyonov scored an opener with a header a few meters away from the Krasnodar goal guarded by Safonov. The home team controlled the flow of the game confidently before the half-time, hence all of the attempts for an equalizing goal on behalf of the Bulls were for naught. And yet, as soon as the second half began that same Semyonov interrupted a low cross by Ramírez in his own box with a hand, and Viktor Claesson made the score equal with a penalty kick. In the time that remained both teams made a maximum effort to snatch a win away, but the one-one on the Akhmat Arena scoreboard never changed until the very full-time.
