FC Krasnodar Agreed on the Transfer of Uroš Spajić

News
The Serbian centre-back will move to Krasnodar from Anderlecht

Football clubs Anderlecht (Belgium) and Krasnodar have reached an agreement to transfer the 25-year old Serbian defender to the black-green squad.

Uroš Spajić was born on 13 February 1993 in Belgrade, Serbia. He is the Red Star Belgrade football school-trained player. He had been playing for the Belgrade team’s youth squad since he was 15, and in autumn 2010 he made his debut for the first team of the Red-Whites when he substituted another player in a Serbian Cup game.

In 2011 in order to get more playing practice he was loaned to FK Sopot, a farm club of the Zvezda that performed in the third-tier Serbian league. In summer 2012 he came back to Red Star. Even though he had made only 18 appearances that season, he was able to attract attention of scouts from the Western Europe with performance that looked decent and mature for his age. As a result, he was bought in July 2013 by the French Toulouse FC for 1.5 million euro.

The 20-year-old defender with his 188 cm of height almost immediately became the player of the starting eleven in the Ligue 1 club. He spent three years with Le Téfécé making 71 appearances. He could have played more, but due to injuries in his last two French seasons he was fielded roughly in half of the official games.

Spajić had been summoned to the Serbia U19 and U21 teams before, but while he was in Toulouse he received his first summon to the main football team of his country. So far he has capped five times for the Serbia national team.

In 2016 the Belgian top club Anderlecht became interested in Spajić. At first the Brussels team loaned the centre-back (able to play as a full-back if needed) for one year. Later, since the player had adapted himself admirably to the team, Anderlecht bought him out from Toulouse for 2.5 million euro.  In season 2017/18 Uroš made 36 appearances for the Purple & White squad including five matches of the UEFA Champions League group stage.

As for now Anderlecht and FC Krasnodar have agreed on the transfer details of Uroš Spajić. In the next few days the player will pass a medical examination and then sign a personal contract with the black-green club.
