FC Krasnodar and FC Zenit Saint Petersburg have agreed upon the loan contract of midfielder Oleg Shatov who will join the Bulls until the end of the current RFPL season with a subsequent buyout option.
Oleg Aleksandrovich Shatov was born on 29 July 1990 in Nizhny Tagil, Sverdlovsk Oblast. He began going into football when he was seven years old, and in the beginning he actually preferred futsal.
He played for FC Ural Yekaterinburg and FC Anzhi Makhachkala, but it was FC Zenit Saint Petersburg where the Ural prodigy finally turned into a grown-up football player and they began summoning him to the Russian national team on a regular basis. It was also the city on the Neva River where Oleg won his main trophies. He won the Russian Championship in the Season 2014/15 and the Russian Cup in the next season and helped FC Zenit to win the Russian Super Cup twice, in 2015 and 2016.
It should be noted the Bulls had been willing to get Shatov for quite a long time. The first talks about his possible transfer from FC Ural to FC Krasnodar date to 2010. But as it has turned out the player is about to finally find his way to our Club only eight years later, in February 2018. The loan expires in the end of this season, but once it is over FC Krasnodar has an option to buy Oleg out of his FC Zenit contract for the relevant amount.
Shatov will arrive to Spain on 7 February. After a medical examination he will sign a personal contract with FC Krasnodar and join his new team.
