25 September 2019. Nizhny Novgorod.
For the opening match of FC Krasnodar in the 2019-20 Russian Cup the black-green coaching staff undertook a massive squad rotation. It turned out it was difficult for the Bulls to enter the game with a renewed squad like that, and in the first 45 minutes they did not create that many prospective situations.
On the 30th minute Stotsky took a fall inside the opposite penalty area when some NN player pushed him in the back. Ivan Sidenkov the referee did not observe any foul in that episode though. Later on the 42nd minute the Krasnodar team launched a decent counterattack, but Namli missed with a shot from a killing position. Then it was Kritsyuk’s turn to act seriously in order to parry a nasty rebound after a shot by Khozin from a free kick.
The home team scored an opener on the 78th minute. Kritsyuk took a goal-kick rolling the ball to Kaio who was under pressing in the defensive midfield. The latter was robbed of the pigskin, and Stavpets executed a one-on-one situation with the keeper without trying very hard. In the little time that remained the black-greens won the initiative, but they failed to produce an equalizer. The final score was 1-0 for FC Nizhny Novgorod.
